
THOMAS LESNIAK TO LEAD BMI'S TECHNICAL TEAM
NEWTOWN, Conn. May 1, 2005
Bulk Materials International (BMI) today announced the appointment of Thomas Lesniak to the newly created position of Technical Director. In this role Mr. Lesniak will provide support for all customer and supplier technical requests, from evaluations of new raw material sources to helping improve granulation technology at steel companies.
“Tom is eminently qualified for this role. He is widely respected in the industry and will enhance BMI’s reputation as a technically oriented raw material supplier,” said Executive Vice President Charles M. Zeynel.
Mr. Lesniak’s responsibilities also include leading the effort to introduce steel slag as a raw material to cement manufacturers around the world and conducting technical seminars. Mr. Lesniak will represent BMI at various industry and technical committees, such as the National Slag Association, ASTM, CCS and ACI and participate in due diligence of new venture and investment opportunities.
Mr. Lesniak was Plant Manager of Lafarge North America’s Harleyville Plant in South Carolina. Earlier, he helped commission the Sparrows Point (Baltimore) grinding plant, which is the largest of its kind in the United States, currently owned by Lafarge.
Mr. Lesniak began his career at Atlantic Cement (which became Blue Circle Cement and later Lafarge), where he held a number of positions in research, production and process engineering.
Mr. Lesniak received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Union College and an M.S degree in Chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He lives in Goose Creek, South Carolina with his wife, Mary Lou.
